Anderton Boat Lift

There is something really awe inspiring about seeing marvels of maritime technology and architecture. The country is littered with them and all too often they are neglected and derelict. Not so the Anderson Boat Lift which has been fully restored linking the River Weaver with the Trent and Mersey canal high above. Acces is via a visitor's centre which was unfortunately closed on the January day I went to the site having accidentally stumbled accross it on a trip through Cheshire.

North Wales

The stunning North Wales coast is a mix of mountains, castles, pretty churches and stunning seascapes. There are also numerous pretty towns along the coast including Flint and Llandudno. Travelling across the Isle of Anglesey one reaches the port of Holyhead with is wide sweeping bay and large marina
